Our Technicians
Kyra Miller
Kyra has been a Certified Veterinary Technician for 6 years. She grew up in New Tripoli and Kempton, and her mom was one of our very first clients more than 30 years ago!
Growing up on a farm Kyra was born and raised to take care of animals. This lead her to the decision to go to school to become a certified veterinary technician. Although Kyra loves all types of animals, she is a horse girl at heart! She currently trains and shows her own barrel horses and hopes to compete on a national level one day.
Prior to starting at Silver Maple, Kyra worked at a few different veterinary hospitals across the Lehigh Valley and Quakertown area. Kyra says, “ The best part about this profession is seeing these animals go home wagging their tails or purring with their owners. I’ve tended to many sick patients who were close to the brink of death, it is so rewarding to be a part of their clinical progress and giving them the chance to go home with their family.”
In her free time Kyra is either at the barn or doing something outside. Summer is her favorite time of year and she is usually busy traveling to horse shows, going jeeping, or attending bonfires. Kyra also used to volunteer time at a therapeutic riding center for handicap kids. She really enjoyed it and thought it was so amazing to be a part of. Unfortunately, she hasn’t had time to volunteer but someday hope to again.
In school Kyra received a plaque award for excellence in veterinary medicine. Her high grades, determination, and compassion led her to that achievement. We are excited for you all to meet Kyra and are thrilled to have her as a new addition to the Silver Maple Veterinary Clinic team!

Karen Allen
Karen Allen, CVT was born and raised in Sinking Spring. She attended Wilson College in Chambersburg PA and graduated in 1994. While at Wilson Karen was the Treasurer for the VMT club. She held that position for 4 years. In 1995 Karen married her high school sweetheart and raised three children. In 2000, Karen’s husband was transferred to Allentown and they had the chance to move closer to his work but still be close to their families. Karen and her husband currently reside in Blandon. She has worked at other hospitals in the area, but felt dissatisfied after a few years because of the lack of emphasis on education of employees and the clients. Karen loves learning new things and sharing them with her co-workers, which allows her to help our patients live longer, happier lives. She feels strongly about dentals and the benefit they have on our pets’ lives. It is satisfying for Karen to perform a dental and see the immediate results. When not working, you will find Karen at home hanging with family or trying to catch up on her scrapbooking.
