Warning To All Cat Lovers

Mar 2022 | News

In the past 6 weeks we have had an inordinate amount of sick cats with either gastrointestinal upset or pancreatitis. After walking through our local grocery store and seeing the empty shelves of cat food, it dawned on me why this is happening….

Cats, unlike some dogs, do not tolerate a change in diet very easily and definitely do not do well if they are off their regular diet for more than 48 hrs. That is a scenario that can lead to a disease called Fatty Liver and can be fatal. Although we are at the mercy of the pet manufacturers and the supply chain, there are a few things you can do to protect your kitties.

  1. Try not to switch food abruptly, think ahead and plan
  2. Go online to get food if the local stores are out, there are supplies out there
  3. When you must switch foods try to do it gradually
  4. If you notice your cat eating less or not at all, that is a red flag, contact us for ideas
  5. We always have prescription food that is low fat and highly digestible, should you be in a bind, come pick some up, we have Purina EN and Blue Buffalo GI.

Hopefully, the supply chain will fulfill our needs in the near future. Keeping your cats happy and healthy is our goal.
